The Secret Place – The place of Prayers and of Knees and of Worship by Abalaka Eneojo Paul

Trust your day is going productively.

Over the past few weeks, God has been exposing us to the nitty-gritties of the secret place and we believe today would not be different.

He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. – Psalms 91:1

When you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly. —Matthew 6:6

The scripture above describes the secret place of the Most High as a place to dwell, a place to customarily retire to and live, the scripture also describes the secret place as the dwelling place of our Father; the secret place is the place where we connect with the Father, He dwells I the secret place and sees all who are in the secret.

It is in the secret place we are taught how to pray in all honesty, absolutely, nakedly and fervently and not in the gathering of believers, prayers in the secret place are always without pretence or self’s agenda.

This is not first a call for a power-seeking prayers as obtainable in the Body nor is it a call for the public hypocritical display of self- righteous loaded prayers of the Pharisees, this is a call to the secret place where no one else is available save the Father of all. God has not only called you and I to wrought signs and wonders, God is calling us to a lifestyle of deep intimacy.

Until you are a consistent dweller in and of the secret place, you would never be marked with the imprint of God’s presence. The secret place is the furnace where we are forged for the strong finishing of our assignment, the place where we take hold of our victories – all victory in battles are won in the secret place, this place is called the STRATEGY ROOM, it is the health victories of this room that translate into victories in the battle field. Battles are not won in the battle ground but secretly in the strategy room.

This is where we negotiate our needs with God. My mentor Mr Shedrach James would always say “Needs are met on the knees in the place of prayers”. The presence of a believer is felt in the place of the knees. Your presence must be known in the secret place, you must have a stand before God in the secret place before you can have a stand before men in the public.

"When your lifestyle in the secret is different from your public lifestyle, there is a conflict of interest" as your secret place interests would continually be against your public-life interests, this results in you not having any audacity in the Supreme Court of Heaven.

You have Heaven’s backing when your secret place life of prayer is alive and healthy.

Your effectiveness in life, career, ministry and your destiny is tied to the health of your secret place lifestyle. You have to have an established secret place lifestyle with God, everything we will ever need for life and destiny are available if and only if we would dare to keep our secret place lifestyle of intimacy with God alive.

The secret place is the cure for prayerlessness.
It is not possible to be a dweller in the secret place and be Prayer-less. Prayerlessness is a sin [see 1 Sam. 12:23].

Since the secret place cures prayerlessness and prayerlessness is sin, it suffices to say that if you ignore the secret place, your prayer life is questionable and you are in sin.

The Father is in the secret place waiting for you, ignoring Him is dishonour for God.

The secret place demands total aloneness with God. Being alone with God removes the chances of praying for show, your spiritual senses are sharpened to hear God in the secret place. Like scriptural Hannah, go back to the secret place.

The secret place demands shutting the door – to all the affairs of life, to all distractions, shutting the door against your mind from wandering.

Worship is at its highest when it overflows from your spirit. The secret place affords the opportunity for your heart to long for the warmth of God’s embrace through worship.

Worship in the secret place is the highest form of intercourse with the Father. Men of the secret place have one thing in common – they birth songs directly from the heart and throne of God touching and changing lives 'transgenerationally'.

I pray for you today for the impartation of the spirit of prayer: “And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications” - Zechariah 12:10 become life and spirit to you.

I pray for you, that the secret place would be to you the sweetest place on earth, that the passion and eagerness to be in the secret place of the Lord would consume you. Amen.

Love
Abalaka Eneojo Paul

Diezani Loses N34 billion To The Federal Govt

A federal court in Lagos has ordered the final forfeiture of N23.4
billion, N9.08 billion, and $5 million (about N34 billion in total)
linked to former Petroleum Minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke.
Justice Muslim Hassan, who had issued an interim forfeiture order
on the funds on January 6, on Thursday gave a “final forfeiture
order” on the funds.

The judge said he was satisfied with the Economic and Financial
Crimes Commission’s argument that the monies were proceeds of
illegal activity.

Background

The seized money, according to the Economic and Financial
Crimes Commission, was stolen from the Nigerian National
Petroleum Corporation and stashed in three banks in Nigeria, in US
dollars and Naira.

Out of the loot, N23.4 billion was kept in Sterling Bank Plc. The
sum of N9.08 billion was kept in First Bank Plc and $5m in Access
Bank Plc.

Justice Muslim Hassan, who gave the order, gave Sterling Bank
and any other interested party 14 days to appear before him to
prove the legitimacy of the monies, failing which the funds would
be permanently forfeited to the Federal Government of Nigeria.

The banks or any of its customer failed to convince the court on the
legitimacy of the funds.

The judge made the order on January 6 in favour of the EFCC
which appeared before him with an ex parte application seeking
temporary forfeiture of the funds.

In a nine-paragraph affidavit by by EFCC investigator, Moses
Awolusi, and filed in support of the ex parte application, the anti-
graft agency said it discovered how sometime in December 2014
the former minister invited a former Managing Director of Fidelity
Bank Plc, Nnamdi Okonkwo, to her office.

There they hatched the plan to move $153,310,000 from the NNPC to Mr. Okonkwo for Mrs. Alison-Madueke.

Mrs. Alison-Madueke, according to Mr. Awolusi, instructed Mr.
Okonkwo to ensure that the money was “neither credited into any
known account nor captured in any transaction platforms” of
Fidelity Bank.

Mr. Okonkwo accepted and implemented the deal leading to the
movement of $153,310,000 from the NNPC to Fidelity Bank.

He said that two former Group Executive Directors of Finance and
Account of NNPC, B.O.N. Otti and Stanley Lawson, helped Mrs.
Alison-Madueke to move the cash from NNPC, Abuja, to the
headquarters of Fidelity Bank in Lagos.

Mr. Awolusi said in a desperate bid to conceal the source of the
money, Mr. Okonkwo, upon receiving it, instructed the Country
Head of Fidelity Bank, Martin Izuogbe, to take $113,310,000 cash
out of the money to the Executive Director, Commercial and
Institutional Bank, Sterling Bank Plc, Lanre Adesanya, to keep.

He said the remaining $40 million was taken in cash to an
executive director, [Public Sector Account], First Bank, to keep.
The investigator said out of the $113,310,000 handed over to Mr.
Adesanya, $108,310,000 was invested in an off balance sheet
investment using Sterling Asset Management Trustees Limited.

The money was subsequently converted into N23.4 billion and
saved in Sterling Bank.

Mr. Awolusi said the EFCC had recovered the N23.4 billion in draft
and had registered it as an exhibit marked, EFCC 01.

The investigator said the EFCC had also recovered another $5
million out of the money kept with the Managing Director of
Access Bank Plc, Herbert Wigwe.

He said the $5 million was recovered in draft and had been
registered as an exhibit marked, EFCC 02.

According to him, First Bank’s Director, had similarly converted
the $40m kept with him to N9,080,000,000.

Mr. Awolusi, however, said the EFCC recovered that also in draft
and registered it as Exhibit EFCC 03.

Moving the ex parte application on January 6, EFCC lawyer, Rotimi
Oyedepo, urged Justice Hassan to order the temporary forfeiture
of the funds to the Federal Government and to order Sterling Bank
and a First Bank director, who were joined as defendants in the
application, as well as any other interested parties, to appear in
court within two weeks to show cause why the funds should not be
permanently forfeited to the Federal Government.

Mr. Oyedepo, who said the application was brought pursuant to
Section 17 of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Related Offences
Act No. 14, 2006 and Section 44(2)(‘) of the 1999 Constitution,
said granting the application was in the best interest of justice.

Justice Hassan granted the order and adjourned till January 24,
2016 for the respondents to appear in court to show cause why the
funds should not be permanently forfeited to the Federal
Government of Nigeria.

The respondents failed to show up to make legitimate claims to
the funds.

Whistle-Blower: FG recovers another $151m, N8bn loot

Federal Government said it recovered another $ 151m and
N 8 bn looted funds from three sources through whistle-
blowers .

The Minister of Information and Culture , Alhaji Lai
Mohammed , in a statement issued on Sunday in Lagos, said
actionable information given by whistle-blowers to the
office of the Minister of Justice and Attorney - General of the
Federation led to the recovery of the looted fund.

He said the looted funds do not include the $9 . 2 m in cash
allegedly owned by a former Group Managing Director of
the NNPC , also a dividend of the whistle- blower policy .

He said , “ The biggest amount of $ 136. 7 m was recovered
from an account in a commercial bank , where the money
was kept under an apparently fake
account name .

“ This was followed by N 7 bn and $ 15 m from another person
and N 1bn from yet another. ”

The minister reiterated the position of government that
there was a primitive and mindless looting of the national
treasury under the last administration .

He said the whistle- blower policy has started yielding fruit ,
few months after its adoption by the government .

He said , “ The whistle-blower policy is barely two months
old and Nigerians have started feeling its impact , how a few
people squirrelled away public funds .

“ It is doubtful if any economy in the world will not feel the
impact of such mind -boggling looting of the treasury as was
experienced in Nigeria .

“ Yet whatever has been recovered so far , including the
$ 9. 2 m by the EFCC , is just a tip of the iceberg. ”

The minister appealed to Nigerians with useful information
on looted funds to continue to provide the authorities with
such information , saying confidentiality will be maintained
with regards to the source of the information .

He also reminded Nigerians of the financial reward aspect
of the policy.

“ If there is a voluntary return of stolen or concealed public
funds or assets on the account of the information provided ,
the whistle blower may be entitled to anywhere between
2 . 5 per cent ( Minimum ) and 5 . 0 per cent ( Maximum ) of the
total amount recovered . ”

Bale back in Real Madrid training

Real Madrid received a boost ahead of the first leg of their
Champions League last 16 tie against Napoli on Wednesday
as Gareth Bale returned to training on Sunday for the first
time in three months .

Bale has been sidelined since damaging ankle ligaments in a
2 -1 win at Sporting Lisbon on November 22 .

“ The big news ( from training ) was the return of the Bale ,
who completed the session with the rest of his teammates , ”
Madrid said in a statement on Sunday .

Bale ’s return means Real boss Zinedine Zidane has a fully -
fit squad to choose from ahead of the visit of the in -form
Italians .

Madrid maintained their one point lead at the top of La
Liga and with two games in hand over Barcelona thanks to
a 3 -1 win at Osasuna on Saturday .

Napoli remain unbeaten in 18 games stretching back to
October after beating Genoa 2- 0 on Friday .

Understanding your woman part 1

Thinking about the recent celebrity couple break ups, makes me wonder what the real issue could be.

You must know that courting a woman, no matter how long before walking her down the aisle doesn't guarantee your time to relax.

It is the beginning of a lifetime school of woman behavioural studies, which you must diligently commit yourself if you really want to have a blissful married life, without having to worry about a rising blood pressure. (mind you, I'm talking about computer age women).

And that's why I've decided to take out time to put you through. This is going to be coming in series as the Spirit leads, so you won't have to be reading epistles.

Starting with this...

1. I want you to accept the fact that all women are different.

There are sporty women, geeky women, fun-loving
women, artistic women, ambitious women, and more.

Each woman has her own personality and goals; so, please, do not generalize, cos it could be dangerous.

Example : Don't mistake one woman's behavior as a universal
female characteristic. Just because your sister doesn't
like sports doesn't mean that your new girlfriend
doesn't.

2. I think it is important you get to learn about her past, ask her about her family, and what her childhood was like. We are influenced to
some degree by the way we were brought up.

Learning these things will teach you a great deal about any woman.

But please, don't press her about these topics, as they can be
touchy. So if she doesn't want to talk about it, just let it be.

3. Observe her. The best way to understand somebody,
male or female, is to spend time with them and observe
their patterns of behavior. Doing so will teach you things
like what upsets her, what excites her, what annoys her, and
so on.

# As a woman, I tell you, we sometimes feign being upset just to see if you will notice and at least ask what the issue could be.

But sweetie, after asking, if you get the "nothing"  response, just take it like that, as that is the truth, except you want us to lie or use the opportunity to open up to you about something you did a long time ago that really annoying.

#.  When on a Sunday morning, your woman keeps hissing and throwing all her nice clothes on the bed, not being able to decide on what to wear, or complaining she doesn't have what to wear when she has over flowing boxes.

My dear, she is only trying to tell you or give you the sign that you need to surprise her soonest with a lovely dress, not even necessarily necessarily you giving her money to do so herself.

Note: have it at the back of your mind, that you'd probably spend the rest of your life trying to understand a woman.

Hope I didn't waste your time

Ex-NNPC boss claims $9.8m (N5bn) is gift

A former Group Managing Director (GMD) of the Nigerian
National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Dr Andrew Yakubu,
has told the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission
(EFCC) that the staggering sums of $9,772,800 and £74,000
cash recovered from a building belonging to him in Kaduna
were gifts.

Yakubu reportedly owned up to the ownership of the huge cash
when he submitted himself to the anti-corruption commission’s zonal office in Kano, where he made a statement to the commission.

The former NNPC boss, who presided over the country’s
petroleum corporation between 2012 and 2014, according to a
statement made available to Saturday Tribune by EFCC’s
Head, Media and Publicity, Wilson Uwujaren, could not,
however, disclose the persons who gave him the ‘gifts’.

The huge cash was discovered in Yakubu’s building during a
special operation conducted by EFCC operatives in the building
on Friday, 3 February. The money was hidden in a fire proof
safe.

The statement disclosed that the raid on the building was
sequel to an intelligence report which the commission received
about suspected proceeds of crime believed to be hidden in the
slums of Sabon Tasha area of the Kaduna metropolis.

“On arrival at the facility, the caretaker of the house, one Bitrus
Yakubu, a younger brother of Andrew Yakubu, disclosed that
both the house and the safe where the money was found
belonged to his brother, Andrew Yakubu.

“When the safe was opened it was discovered that it contained
the sum of $9,772,800 (Nine Million, Seven hundred and
Seventy two thousand, eight hundred United States dollars
(about N5billion) and another sum of £74,000 (Seventy four
thousand pound sterling),” the statement informed.

The anti-graft agency stated that the former NNPC boss was
assisting the commission in its investigation.

EFCC acting chairman, Ibrahim Magu, had on Thursday while
appearing before the House of Representatives’ Committee on
Financial Crimes revealed that operatives of the commission
recovered huge cash from a building in Kaduna, though he did
not reveal when the operation was carried out.

Magu, who appeared before the committee to explain the anti-
graft agency’s budget performance in 2016 and defend its 2017
budget proposal, also disclosed that another N1.25 billion was
recovered from a public servant, all in the last two weeks.

EFCC had on 20 June, 2016, dragged Yakubu alongside the
chairman of Atlantic Energy Drilling Concept Limited, Jide
Omokore, before Justice Binta Murtala-Nyako of the Abuja
Division of the Federal High Court on a four-count charge of
money laundering.

Apart from Omokore, Yakubu is facing trial along with Victor
Briggs, Abiye Membere, David Mbanefo, Atlantic Energy Brass
Development Limited and Atlantic Energy Drilling Concepts
Limited over the allegation.

Posters critical of Pope Francis appear around Rome: the Pope has been accused of being without mercy.

Posters of a stern-looking Pope Francis
appeared on walls around Rome on Saturday,
condemning his actions against some conservative
Catholics and asking, "Where is your mercy?"

Written in local Roman dialect, the posters lamented that
the Pope had "removed priests; decapitated the Knights
of Malta" and "ignored Cardinals," echoing some of the
major complaints some conservative Catholics have
about Pope Francis' recent decisions.

The posters were not signed by any group.

On the day the posters appeared,  the Pope finalized a
months-long battle with the Knights of Malta by
appointing a Special Delegate from the Vatican and
giving him "all necessary powers" to help renew the
traditional Catholic Order.

The Knights of Malta have a unique "sovereign" standing
within the Catholic Church, similar to that of a separate
country, and they had contested the legality of the Pope's
intervention into their order.

Last month the Pope forced the resignation of the head of
the Knights of Malta, former Grand Master Matthew
Festing, who had publicly opposed him.

The reference in the poster to "decapitation of the Knights
of Malta" refers to this battle.

Criticism of the pontiff

Within a few hours of their appearance, the posters had
been taken down or covered over by "Illegal Posting"
signs from the City of Rome.

Conservative criticism of Pope Francis has intensified
since November, when he refused to answer an official
letter sent to him by four cardinals. The letter criticized
his move to allow divorced and remarried Catholics to
receive communion.

That issue has divided many in the Catholic Church and
has left bishops around the world arguing about the
Pope's intentions and how to implement the directive.

One of the signers of that letter, known as a dubia, was
conservative US Cardinal Raymond Burke, whom the
Pope removed as the head of the Vatican's Supreme
Court in 2014 and named as his papal liaison to the
Knights of Malta.

On Saturday, the Pope once again effectively sidelined
Cardinal Burke by appointing Archbishop Angelo Becciu
as his "special delegate" to the Knights and his
"exclusive spokesman" in relations between the order
and the Vatican.

Get motivated :A Very Special Bank Account

Imagine you had a bank account that deposited $86,400 each
morning.

The account carries over no balance from day to day,
allows you to keep no cash balance, and every evening cancels
whatever part of the amount you had failed to use during the day.

What would you do? Draw out every dollar each day!

We all have such a bank. Its name is Time. Every morning, it
credits you with 86,400 seconds.

Every night it writes off, as lost, whatever time you have failed to use wisely.

It carries over no balance from day to day.

It allows no overdraft so you can’t
borrow against yourself or use more time than you have.

Each day, the account starts fresh. Each night, it destroys an unused time.

If you fail to use the day’s deposits, it’s your loss and you can’t
appeal to get it back.

There is never any borrowing time. You can’t take a loan out on
your time or against someone else’s.

The time you have is the time you have and that is that.

Time management is yours to decide how you spend the time, just as with money you decide how you spend the money.

It is never the case of us not having enough time to do things, but the case of whether we want to do them and where they fall in our priorities.

Chelsea thrash Arsenal 3-1

Eden Hazard scored a sublime solo goal as Premier League
leaders Chelsea thrust a dagger into Arsenal ’s title
aspirations with a 3- 1 victory at Stamford Bridge on
Saturday .

The Belgian winger left a trail of defenders in his wake to
double Chelsea’s lead in the 53 rd minute , in between a
contentious header by Marcos Alonso and a late lob from
Arsenal old boy Cesc Fabregas .

It was Chelsea’ s 11 th home victory in succession and their
16 th win in 18 league games , stretching their lead over
third -place Arsenal to a huge 12 points with 14 games of
the season remaining.

Chelsea have been close to unplayable since Antonio Conte
changed their system during their 3- 0 loss at Arsenal on
September 24 and it seems only a matter of time until they
are crowned champions .

For Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger , who watched from
the stands as he served the third game of a four - match
touchline ban , his side ’s season is following a wearily
familiar pattern.

Arsenal have lost their last five games at the Bridge and
had conceded 13 unanswered goals prior to Olivier Giroud ’ s
stoppage -time consolation .

They have lost four of their last nine league games and
once again face the prospect of a run-in given suspense only
by the tussle for Champions League places .

With a raft of midfielders unavailable , Wenger was obliged
to start with Alex Oxlade - Chamberlain alongside Francis
Coquelin in the middle , while Theo Walcott replaced Giroud
in attack.

Arsenal had conceded two goals in the first 13 minutes of
Tuesday ’s 2 -1 loss at home to Watford .

They almost caught Chelsea cold here , Alex Iwobi curling
wide after Thibaut Courtois overhit a pass towards David
Luiz .

But after Gary Cahill had headed into the ground and over
the bar at the other end, Chelsea went ahead in the 13 th
minute with a goal that left Arsenal fans fuming .
– Bellerin forced off –

Pedro sent a cross into the box from the right that Diego
Costa headed against the bar at the near post , sending the
ball spinning into the air .

As Hector Bellerin got himself in position to head it away,
and with Walcott watching on impassively , Alonso flew in ,
cleaning his fellow Spaniard out with his forearm and
heading the ball home .

Referee Martin Atkinson allowed the goal to stand and
Arsenal ’ s disappointment was compounded by the sight of a
dazed Bellerin being led down the tunnel , with Gabriel
taking his place .

Chelsea were buoyant , Costa driving a shot into the side -
netting and Pedro forcing Petr Cech to push the ball behind
from Alonso ’s accurate cut -back .

But Arsenal ended the first half strongly , Courtois
producing a stunning one -handed save to turn Gabriel’ s
header over the bar and then dropping onto a tame effort
by Mesut Ozil .

It took a last-ditch tackle by Laurent Koscielny to prevent
Hazard scampering clear early in the second half , but when
the Chelsea number 10 picked up the ball in the 53 rd
minute , there was no getting it back .

After striding onto a loose ball in the centre circle, he beat
Koscielny, shrugged off Coquelin, leaving him flat on his
back , and then outfoxed Koscielny again before squeezing a
shot past Cech.

On the touchline , Conte celebrated with characteristic
abandon .

There were flickers from Arsenal , Courtois clawing away a
deft header from substitute Danny Welbeck , before
Fabregas lobbed in from 25 yards after Cech shanked the
ball straight to him .

Giroud reduced the arrears, heading in from Nacho
Monreal ’s cross .
