Business Booms In Katsina As President Buhari’s Daughter Fatima Weds

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that
super markets, shops, soft drink sellers and
commercial motorcyclists were recording a boom
in their businesses as visitors and well wishers
from across the country were sighted purchasing
various traditional wares.

The traders at Daura city market also conducted
their businesses without hindrance.

The soft drink and bottled water sellers are
receiving high patronage due the scorching heat in
the ancient city.

NAN observed that there was high vehicular traffic
as various brands of assorted cars and jeeps
belonging to invitees flooded the town.

Several of the invitees drove straight to the Emir
of Daura’s palace, Alhaji Umar Farouq, to pay
homage  before proceeding to the venue of the
wedding.

The residents of Daura were also seen in high
spirit, receiving and entertaining visitors as well as
directing them to various places in appreciation of
their presence for the high profile wedding.

The President’s daughter, Fatima, is getting
married to her heartthrob, Malam Gimba Yau
Kumo.

She will become the fourth wife of Gimba, who is a
former Managing Director and Chief Executive
Officer of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria.

Move cattle out of FCT, Minister tells herdsmen

The FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Bello said on Tuesday
that herdsmen must move their cattle out of the Federal Capital
Territory.

Bello gave the warning when he met with members of the
Miyatti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, FCT
Chapter, in Abuja.

The minister noted that there is no way, such animals can co-
habit with the residents.

Bello said that this is part of efforts to totally stop cattle grazing
in Abuja metropolis and major entrance and exit highways into
the city centre.

According to him, the decision is for safety reasons; cattle
should not roam on the streets and highways in the city.
“This is not because the government wants to prevent cattle
breeders from rearing cattle in the Territory.

“You have to understand that when Abuja Environmental
Protection Board says cattle should not roam the city, it is not
because they want to prevent cattle breeders from raring cattle
in the FCT.

“Basically, it is just for safety. It is for safety of your cattle and
above all, safety of the citizens.

“In a modern city, it’s not possible for animals and vehicles to
move together on the roads because this could cause accidents,
which in some cases could be fatal, and it is our duty to protect
lives and property,” he said.

The minister implored the association to nominate some of their
members to serve in the Ministerial Task Team on Environment
to ensure that there is smooth communication between FCTA
and the association.

Bello said that the FCT Administration has moved a step further
to identify new grazing reserves that will cater for their
requirements.

“A total of 33,485 hectares have already been earmarked for
grazing reserves to cater for about 7 million herds of cattle
comprising of Paikon Kore – 8,500 hectares.

“Karshi – 6,000 hectares, Kawu in Bwari – 9,000 hectares and
Rubochi in Kuje has 9,985 hectares,” the Minister revealed.
Bello said that the critical issue is payment of compensation to
the farmers.

He said that FCT Administration will work together with the
National Assembly to resolve the issue amicably.

The minister explained that the FCT Administration may even
reach out to the host communities to work out a situation where
compensation does not have to be in monetary terms because of
the large expanse of land involved.

“Nothing should prevent the communities that are there and the
Fulanis living together because you don’t always have to move
people away,” he said.

The minister thanked Miyatti Allah for its support to the FCT
Administration and also to the Federal Government.

Bello urged them to continue to robustly support the
government of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Earlier, the Chairman of the FCT Chapter of Miyetti Allah Cattle
Breeders Association of Nigeria, Malam Yahaya Isah said the
association would continue to promote peaceful co-existence.

He promised that his association will enlighten the members
not to breed their cattle on the streets and highways of Abuja
again.

NAN recalls that the Abuja Environmental Protection Board
(AEPB) had arrested 589 hawkers, 25 cows, 51 sheep and nine
herdsmen between May and September.

Mrs Omolola Olanipekun, Acting Director of the board said in
Abuja that the herdsmen and the animals were arraigned in the
FCT mobile court.

Olanipekun said that the board had embarked on dialogue with
the leadership of the herdsmen in the FCT to explain to them the
implication of moving their animals into the city centres.

Anambra hits 210, 000mt target in rice production – Commissioner

Awka – The Commissioner for Agriculture in Anambra, Mr
Afam Mbanefo, said on Monday that the state has reached its
target of achieving self-sufficiency in rice production.

Mbanefo made the disclosure at a Commodity Alliance
Forum/Consultative meeting organised by the state Value
Chain Development Programme (VCDP) in Awka.

The commissioner recalled that the state government had
earlier targeted 210, 000 metric tonnes of rice production per
annum.

“Based on the calculation of our expected yields, we are
expecting to realise over 236, 000 metric tonnes of rice in
2016 based on the production capacity.’’

Mbanefo said the calculation was based on all the expected
yields of 35 per cent of over 14, 300 farmers and the activities
of programmes like the VCDP and FADAMA.

He said the expected yield also included the activities of rice
investors in the state including Coscharis farms, Joseph Agro
and others.

Mbanefo said the state government was passionate about
revolutionising the agriculture and making it a wealth
creation, especially for unemployed youths who were willing
to venture into the sector.

The commissioner, who said the state government ensured a
linkage between farmers and off-takers, advised farmers who
were yet to form cooperatives to do so in their own interest.

Earlier, the National Programme Coordinator for VCDP, Mr
Ameh Onoja, said the aim of the programme was to assist the
Federal Government to reduce spending on the importation of
rice.

According to him, the overall goal is to ensure that rural
poverty is reduced and to ensure accelerated economic
growth is achieved on a sustainable and inclusive basis.

Onoja, who was represented by Mr Basil Esinulo, said the
project was developed to address some major constraints
militating against agricultural development such as the poor
organisation of farmers, processors and marketing.

Other constraints, he said, included lack of rural
infrastructure particularly rural roads, water supply and
market as well as poor access to production and others.

According to him, tremendous boost in rice production will be
achieved to increase incomes and food security in the
country.

The Acting State Programme Coordinator for VCDP, Mr
Bonaventure Mochebe, said the forum was organised to
deliberate on issues that affected farmers and to seek ways
to address the challenges.

He said that the forum will link farmers with financial
institutions, off-takers, Civil Society Organisations and other
stakeholders in the rice business.

Mochebe urged government to rescue farmers whose three
hectares of rice farm land were destroyed by the Fulani
herdsmen.

He said on the sideline of the programme that Fulani
herdsmen’s cattle had destroyed over three hectares of rice
farm land.

The forum also witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of
Understanding (MOU), by the farmers, agro dealers and off-
takers to strengthen their partnership and capacity of
production.

Muhammadu Buhari.

According to her Facebook social media wall at the weekend,
Tallen said: “I am fully committed to nation building and
completely loyal to the Federal Republic of Nigeria as well as its

However, family comes first and as such my decision is borne out

NJC Bars Judges, Judicial Workers From Accepting Gifts

As part of measures to enhance the independence of the judiciary,
the National Judicial Council, NJC, has barred judges and other
court staff from accepting gifts from other arms of government.

The move is aimed at enhancing the independence of the judiciary,
as it also outlawed any form of lobbying of other arms of
government by the judiciary or any of its institutions.

The new measures are also set out to curb corruption and other
unethical conduct among judicial officers and other court staff,
especially against the backdrop of recent raiding of homes and
arrest of some Supreme and High Court judges in the country.

These form part of the provisions in a new National Judicial
Policy, NJP, to be launched in Abuja today by the NJC. The
measures, which are part of a new NJP to be launched in Abuja
today, seeks to merge and improve on the existing NJC NJP and a
similar policy by the National Judicial Institute, NJI.

The existing Code of Conduct for judicial officers provides that “a
judge and members of his/her family shall neither ask for nor
accept any gift, bequest, favour, or loan on account of anything
done or omitted to be done by him in the discharge of his duties.
“But, the provision in the new policy particularly bars judges and
other court staff from accepting gifts from other arms of
government, and made compliance mandatory.”

Section 2(3)(2) of the new policy states: “The Code of Conduct for
Judicial Officers and Code of Conduct for Court Employees, with
the amendment discouraging acceptance of gifts from other arms
of government, should be such as would be adequate. Compliance
with their provisions shall be mandatory.”

Further on its relationship with other arms of government, it is
prescribed that “the judiciary shall not resort to lobbying in
ensuring that the legislature and the executive perform their
constitutional responsibilities. “All arms of government should
respect the doctrine of Separation of Powers as enshrined in the
Constitution.”

The policy also introduced measures to further keep complaints
against judges and other court staff from the media and public
domain. Provisions in this regard are contained in section 2(2)(4)
to 2(2)(9). It states further:

“It shall be the policy of the judiciary on complaints of misconduct
against judicial officers or employees of the judiciary shall not be
leaked or published in the media.

“Where complaints on allegations against judicial officers and
court employees are submitted for investigation, the complainant
or complainants shall be made to give an undertaking not to do
anything to prejudice investigation or actions that may be taken.

“The institutions of the judiciary concerned with investigation or/
and implementation of decisions taken on such complaints shall
be obliged to cease further action where such complaints are
leaked or discussed in the media.

“Where such a leakage is occasioned after the submission of a
complaint, then all investigations on the complaints shall be
suspended, the leakage investigated and if such leakage is from
the complainant or through other parties known to such a
complainant, such a complaint should be discarded.

“Where such leakage is occasioned prior to the presentation of the
complaint and the source of the leakage is found to be the
complainant or through other parties known to and connected with
the complainant, then such complaint shall not be accepted, upon
submission, by the appropriate disciplinary body.

“On conclusion of investigation, the disciplinary bodies may allow
public disclosure of their findings, subject to following the proper
channels.”

Chelsea humiliate Mourinho's United team

Jose Mourinho's Stamford Bridge return wasn't a good one at all,
and only got worse as the most successful manager in
Chelsea's history saw his Manchester United side succumb to a humiliating 4-0 defeat.

If Mourinho's hope was to show his former pay masters the stuff he's made of, then the reverse was the case.

The most painful part was when some of the Chelsea fans who used to love him to bits, started chanting

"You're not special any more,"

Don't worry Mr Mourinho, the devil is a liar.

Donald Trump Says He’ll Sue the Women Who Have Accused Him Of Misconduct

Donald Trump said on Saturday, Oct. 22, that he plans to sue the
women who accused him of s3xual misconduct following the
release of his now-infamous lewd 2005 video.

“Every woman lied when they came forward to hurt my campaign,”
the Republican presidential candidate, 70, said during an
appearance in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. “Total fabrication. The
events never happened. Never. All of these liars will be sued after
the election is over.”

“But a simple phone call placed to the biggest newspapers or
television networks gets them wall-to-wall coverage with virtually
no fact-checking whatsoever,” Trump continued.

The real estate mogul then pointed the finger at his opponent,
Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton . “It was probably
the [Democratic National Committee] and Hillary’s campaign who
put forward these liars with their fabricated stories,” he said on
Saturday. “But we’ll probably find out later through litigation,
which we’re so looking forward to.”

The sexual misconduct allegations came after a 2005 recording of
Trump bragging about groping women during a conversation
with Billy Bush was released online byThe Washington Post in
early October. In the days following, at least 10 women came
forward with claims that Trump inappropriately touched them over
the past 30 years.

An 11th accuser is set to hold a press conference in Los Angeles
at 2 p.m. local time on Saturday with her attorney, Gloria Allred .
The news conference marks the first time the female accuser, who
has not yet been identified, will speak publicly about her
allegations against Trump.

The businessman has repeatedly denied the sexual misconduct
allegations.

Saturday 22 October 2016

Today's story is a story of sacrifice.

This is a story by Jai, it teaches not to ever look down on a person because of a physical challenge. Just love and keep loving.

My mom only had one eye. I hated her… she was such an
embarrassment. My mom ran a small shop at a flea
market. She collected little weeds and such to sell…
anything for the money we needed she was such an
embarrassment. There was this one day during
elementary school.

I remember that it was field day, and my mom came. I was
so embarrassed. How could she do this to me? I threw her
a hateful look and ran out. The next day at school… “Your
mom only has one eye?!” and they taunted me.

I wished that my mom would just disappear from this
world so I said to my mom, “Mom, why don’t you have the
other eye?! You’re only going to make me a
laughingstock. Why don’t you just die?” My mom did not
respond. I guess I felt a little bad, but at the same time, it
felt good to think that I had said what I’d wanted to say
all this time. Maybe it was because my mom hadn’t
punished me, but I didn’t think that I had hurt her feelings
very badly.

That night… I woke up, and went to the kitchen to get a
glass of water. My mom was crying there, so quietly, as if
she was afraid that she might wake me. I took a look at
her, and then turned away. Because of the thing I had said
to her earlier, there was something pinching at me in the
corner of my heart. Even so, I hated my mother who was
crying out of her one eye. So I told myself that I would
grow up and become successful, because I hated my one-
eyed mom and our desperate poverty.

Then I studied really hard. I left my mother and came to
Seoul and studied, and got accepted in the Seoul
University with all the confidence I had. Then, I got
married. I bought a house of my own. Then I had kids,
too. Now I’m living happily as a successful man. I like it
here because it’s a place that doesn’t remind me of my
mom.

This happiness was getting bigger and bigger, when
someone unexpected came to see me “What?! Who’s
this?!” It was my mother… Still with her one eye. It felt as
if the whole sky was falling apart on me. My little girl ran
away, scared of my mom’s eye.

And I asked her, “Who are you? I don’t know you!!” as if I
tried to make that real. I screamed at her “How dare you
come to my house and scare my daughter! Get out of here
now!!” And to this, my mother quietly answered, “oh, I’m
so sorry. I may have gotten the wrong address,” and she
disappeared. Thank goodness… she doesn’t recognize
me. I was quite relieved. I told myself that I wasn’t going
to care, or think about this for the rest of my life.

Then a wave of relief came upon me… one day, a letter
regarding a school reunion came to my house. I lied to
my wife saying that I was going on a business trip. After
the reunion, I went down to the old shack, that I used to
call a house…just out of curiosity there, I found my mother
fallen on the cold ground. But I did not shed a single tear.
She had a piece of paper in her hand…. it was a letter to
me.

She wrote:

"My son,

I think my life has been long enough now. And… I
won’t visit Seoul anymore… but would it be too
much to ask if I wanted you to come visit me once
in a while? I miss you so much. And I was so glad
when I heard you were coming for the reunion. But I
decided not to go to the school…. For you… I’m
sorry that I only have one eye, and I was an
embarrassment for you.

You see, when you were very little, you got into an
accident, and lost your eye. As a mother, I couldn’t
stand watching you having to grow up with only one
eye… so I gave you mine… I was so proud of my son
that was seeing a whole new world for me, in my
place, with that eye. I was never upset at you for
anything you did. The couple times that you were
angry with me. I thought to myself, ‘it’s because he
loves me.’ I miss the times when you were still
young around me.

I miss you so much. I love you. You mean the world
to me"

My World Shattered.  I hated the person who only lived for
me . I cried for My Mother, I didn’t know of any way that
will make up for my worst deeds…
